Favorites still holding strong...

So in the last two weeks, Katie, Anthony, and Tim have all gone home. I really liked Katie and Anthony in the beginning (all the way back to the audition rounds), but as the weeks went on, their performances just got worse and worse. Hopefully they will get their original spunk back and be able to make singing careers for themselves.

This week we also had to endure the "Idol gives back" show. Nothing like a bunch of rich celebrities asking poor Americans to donate money. One of those artists alone could give more than all of the money they receive from the tele-thone! I don't mind giving to a worthy cause, I just hate rich people asking me for money. Why don't they give something themselves? Ugh! I am stepping off of my soapbox now!

Big Mike, Crystal, and Lee are definitely my favorites for this season and I really hope those three make it to the end. However, of the three, I could really only see myself buying the Lee's music because his music style is the one closest to my music preference.

As the season begins to come to a close, I can't help thinking about next season without Simon. I just don't think the show will make it! I wonder what his new show will be like?

Well, this class will end before this season of American Idol, but I still hope to be able to finish my blog, so keep following if you like!
Thanks,
Sarah

And the beat goes on...

Well, Paige and Didi are finally gone! Now we are really starting to narrow down the talent. In a major upset, Big Mike almost went home!!! BOO! Luckily, the judges decided to use "the save" on him. You could tell that he was really choked up and trying not to cry. Poor guy! Hopefully he will do well and last at least a few more weeks.

Lee and Crystal are still holding strong- yeah!!! I like Tim and Anthony just fine, but I think they need to go home before Big Mike. Katie can also go as far as I am concerned.

Stay tuned and we will soon see who makes it to the end.
Thanks for following!

The Top 12

Well y'all, I know that several weeks have passed since my last post, but hey, I was on Spring Break! Anyway, we finally made it to the Top 12. Does anyone else feel like something is just missing this year or that this season is just dragging on and on? There aren't that many great contestants and certainly a few that I think should have gone home weeks ago (especially in place of some of the actual talent that has already gone home). And I really like Ellen, but just not as a judge. She doesn't really seem to bring anything to the show, aside from the additional humor here and there. And Kara is about to get on my last nerve! I have never really liked her- she is just so weird and fake! I think the show will totally tank after this year- no Simon, no show!

As for the Top 12 (well, actually we are down to the top 11 now since Lacey went home- boo!), some of my favorites are still in it - Big Mike and Crystal. I am also really starting to like Lee, which is funny since I had originally guessed he would be voted off weeks ago! Other than those three- the rest are either really bland to me or REALLY annoying- like Katie, Didi, and Paige. Just something about them- too fake, not enough star quality, trying too hard? I just can't put my finger on it, but I will be happy once they go.

So those are my thoughts for the week, feel free to weigh in and let me know your opinion!
Thanks,
Sarah

Top 24 perform

Well, it has been a bad week for me. After all of the snow here, our power kept going in and out, which destroyed my satellite box. I have had to watch recap videos online of Idol this week because I couldn't watch it live! We have a new satellite box now, so next week should go much better.
As for the performances this week, I thought the contestants were all pretty nervous or something because no one did perfectly. Of my predictions from last week, I only got one right- Joe! The other male that went home was Tyler (who time-travelled here from the 70's and has to get back home). The two girls were Janell and Ashley. I am not all that surprised with Janell, but I was pretty surprised about Ashley because she seemed to have so much star quality in the early auditions.
I still think the guys are performing better than the girls, so hopefully the girls will step it up next week.
Talk to you later!

Hollywood Week - #2

This week, the top 24 were determined. There were not that many surprises for me because just like in seasons past, they have really been following the top 24 from the audition rounds and going ahead and familiarizing the audience with them. I think that the men are definitely stronger this year than the women. I am actually really surprised about some of the women that went through, because they did not seem that great to me.
For next week, the girls will perform. Then the following week, the boys will perform. As for my predictions, I think that for the girls, Paige and Siobhan will be the first to go and for the boys, Lee and Joe. These contestants just don't seem to be as popular as the other contestants or missing that star quality. We will have to wait and see what happens!

Hollywood Week - #1

We finally made it to Hollywood! Ellen is now a judge and I think she is doing a great job- very funny. Her and Simon really play well off of each other with the jokes and comments and all. Well, my favorite guy so far has already been kicked off (go figure). That knuckle head forget the lyrics! Guess I have to find someone else to pull for. I did see one guy that seemed to stand out- his wife was having their first child at the same time he had to go on stage with his group. Very sweet and emotional story.
Group week has always had it share of drama and this one was no different. One group of five that included one of the older female contestants got the award this year for most dysfunctional group. It wouldn't hurt my feelings for that entire group to get kicked off! There were a couple of copy cat groups and some more weird and funky dance moves, but nothing to memorable. Upcoming for next week- the top 24 will be selected. Stay tuned......

The Road to Hollywood

In the last audition round before Hollywood week, American Idol showcased auditions from all of the different cities they visited. The only one that really stood out for me was a young girl who said that she grew up very poor and often times didn't have dinner. She sang really well and I hope she makes it far.
As for the bad, the stand out person was a young boy who was very tall, awkward, and a very bad singer. I really felt sorry for him. He said he was on the swim team, so hopefully he will be successful with that because singing is definitely not for him.
The next show will feature Ellen for the first time as the newest judge (she is replacing Paula Abdul). I am really looking forward to it!
