Texas Auditions

Hey ya'all,
The guest judges last night were Neil Patrick Harris (you know, Doogie Howser) and Joe Jonas (the best looking Jonas brother). The only thing Joe contributed was some eye candy- he really didn't have any input or feedback for the contestants. Doogie, however, must be looking to fill Simon's shoes next year with all the sarcasm and harsh remarks he gave (but I still love him!).

As for the contestants, we got to see the woman of Simon's dreams- or should I say nightmares. Think hot pink hippo crossed with a screech owl- yeah, it was that bad. There was also a good singer who had Tourette’s syndrome and my husband and I were very worried that he was going to start cussing (which some people with Tourette's do). That would not have been good around American Idol's #1 fan, my son Zachary. He did not cuss, though, and actually sang really well.

One contestant used to be on Barney when she was little and came into her audition with a whip and wearing some inapproriate black shiny outfit- weird?!?!?! But, she did sing well and is going to Hollywood. We'll see who she decides to be next time.....

The last person I want to mention said he starred in the movie The Color Purple with Fantasia. He made up a song about American Idol and the judges that was a little corny, but also pretty neat. He sang well and is off to Hollywood, too.

I don't know about you, but I am ready for auditions to be over and the real contest to begin.
Talk to you later,
Sarah

  1. Hi Sarah - I love watching American Idol. I was able to watch the first episode of the season, but I have not been able to see it since then. I enjoyed reading your blog, and look forward to your posts this semester.

  2. Howdy Sarah--My 4 year old son and I also enjoy watching American Idol. The audition shows are so funny! The Texas auditions were quite interesting! I enjoyed the guest judges Neil Harris and Joe Jonas as well. Neil was certainly trying to go after Simon's job! The dominatrix who was a former Barney cast member was totally weird! Texas did yield some good potential, so I guess we will have to wait and see them in Hollywood!

  3. Hi Sarah,

It looks like the American Idol phenomenon continues. Believe it or not though, I miss Paula Abdul. Even though it appeared that a good portion of her comments were not given from a sober mind, the comedic relief between her and Simon was awesome. The new woman that they added has little if any personality to me. I generally watch the first few episodes and then I let it run for a while until the competition really heats up. I'm looking forward to the finals already.
