Denver Auditions

Well I am getting a late start this week, but thank goodness for TiVo (digital video recorder). I don't know about you, but whenever I am watching a reality show like American Idol, I always look to see if I know anyone and being from Colorado, I was looking more than usual. But no, I still don't know any of the contestants.
I think I may have found one of my favorites for this year. His name was Mark and he first came off as being a real goof ball. He said people thought of him as a Jack Black look-alike. But this guy could sing pretty good and had a real hard luck story growing up because apparently his mother abducted him when he was young. He seems like a pretty cool cat and I am looking forward to seeing more of him.
This week there was a also a girl that said she flew 14 hours from Italy for her audition. I was trying to figure out if she was American or Italian, though, because I thought the whole point of the show was that you were an "American" Idol. I don't think it will matter all that much though because she talks like Minnie Mouse and I don't think she will go far.
There wasn't too many other memorable people, except "Bikini Boy." This guy must have lost a bet or something because he came in wearing just a bikini like that tramp from last season. The judges wouldn't even listen to him sing. Poor guy!
I am getting tired of these boring auditions and looking forward to a change of pace with Hollywood week.

Texas Auditions

Hey ya'all,
The guest judges last night were Neil Patrick Harris (you know, Doogie Howser) and Joe Jonas (the best looking Jonas brother). The only thing Joe contributed was some eye candy- he really didn't have any input or feedback for the contestants. Doogie, however, must be looking to fill Simon's shoes next year with all the sarcasm and harsh remarks he gave (but I still love him!).

As for the contestants, we got to see the woman of Simon's dreams- or should I say nightmares. Think hot pink hippo crossed with a screech owl- yeah, it was that bad. There was also a good singer who had Tourette’s syndrome and my husband and I were very worried that he was going to start cussing (which some people with Tourette's do). That would not have been good around American Idol's #1 fan, my son Zachary. He did not cuss, though, and actually sang really well.

One contestant used to be on Barney when she was little and came into her audition with a whip and wearing some inapproriate black shiny outfit- weird?!?!?! But, she did sing well and is going to Hollywood. We'll see who she decides to be next time.....

The last person I want to mention said he starred in the movie The Color Purple with Fantasia. He made up a song about American Idol and the judges that was a little corny, but also pretty neat. He sang well and is off to Hollywood, too.

I don't know about you, but I am ready for auditions to be over and the real contest to begin.
Talk to you later,
Sarah

L.A. Auditions

Well, L.A. brought out all of the usual weirdos and there were two guest judges for each day- Katy Perry and Avril Lavene. Avril was the worst judge ever! She was disqualifying people because they had kids. What the heck is up with that? She is supposed to be judging whether or not they can sing- period! Other than a few Adam Lambert wannabes, nothing else really stood out.
Talk to you later.

Introduction

Hello, my name is Sarah and this is my blog for Assignment #2 for my BITE 5200 class at ECU. I have never done a blog before and wasn't sure what to make my topic about. While at dinner tonight, my family and I were talking about how the new episode of American Idol would be coming on tonight. So, I thought it might be fun to post my thoughts, reflections, and general recap of the latest American Idol episode. We have watched just about every season of American Idol and find it very amusing and entertaining.
My four-year-old son Zachary has also become an avid fan this year and wants a golden ticket to Hollywood so he can be a superstar, too! I know the season has already started, but the only good thing you may have missed was "pants on the ground." If you don't know what that means, you just need to go and visit You Tube (or watch my video).
I hope you all enjoy my blog and I enjoy hearing your feedback about the show. Thanks, Sarah
